JACLPlus AND Community Builder 1.0RC1 3 Years, 1 Month ago

A few files of the Community Builder 1.0RC1 need to be modified before it can be used with JACLPlus. This is because they use existing Joomla! way to control access. Yeap, only a few files. We will release the patch for this very soon once we convince they work fine with our internal test.

We have released the patch. However, please don't use it for your live website unless you are confident with it.

Excellent! i was looking for a way to create group members with CB rc1 so hopefully, your product is the answer to our problem with CB. However, CB RC2 (new release it going thru some testing as this point). Will you continue to supply a patch for CB rc2 sa well?

Another thing is that you are probably aware that on Joomla!'s roadmap they will be extending the ACL allowing users to create groups and different members (much like your existing component) but this isn't going to be implemented for quite a while to come. So it is wonderful news that you have started it now. However, what will happen when Joomla! finally do introduce it into the core system? Do you plan to try and get the Joomla! core team to integrate your version into the core itself or would it still be a separate component which will continue to be as it is but with extended features.

I have not installed JACLPlus yet because i need this mainly for CB and would like to apply the patch in the same time. What is the progress of this patch so far? will it be released later this week as i would be interested to test the patch too.

First, we definitely will create a patch for CB RC2 once we can get the source code

Second, it would be nice if the Joomla! core team want to integrate our component into the core files. We don't dare to ask them to do that yet since we've just released the JACLPlus component for a couple of days

. However, once Joomla! introduce ACL into the core system, we might drop the project. It's all depend whether the ACL implement by Joomla! is better/flexible than ours or not.

Lastly, we will release the patch for CB RC1 by this weekend or soon. We promise

sunburst, i modified CB to have two own fields (one single value and one with multiple values) for this usage. i do use it for doing some things in CB, configurable by additional fields in CB configuration. if you are interested in such a modify of CB please contact me at mamboland.info .

Interesting but this can already be achieved with CB adding extra fields? without modifications to it unless i'm missing the point. Please explain, i would like to know more.

Hi, Community Builder extends the user information. If I have JACL & 2 different groups of users, can I extend each group differently?

Hi mtk, JACLPlus does not change the way of how CB being used. May be you can ask CB Team regarding this as our patch only make it compatible with our JACLPlus. No further changes or enhancements for CB component.
