I have installed the latest version of JACLPlus for joomla! 1.0.13. This was successful. I also installed the Patch Component for Fireboard 1.0.3 Stable. This component installs as:
-
- component menu _link_ "option=com_patch"

I noticed the Patch component for CB1.1 also installs with the same component menu _link_ "option=com_patch". Does this not cause a problem? Ie two Patch Components with "option=com_patch' as the menu _link_ and both called the same under Currently Installed.

If this is acceptable, how do you tell the two apart in the components Joomla! installed components section.

Is anybody gonna answer this? Why are 99 percent of the questions on here unanswered? I have three problems:
1. the same as listed above.
2. can't figure out how to use JACL at all.
3. these forums are pretty discouraging. why should I bother asking a question when you look at how many posts have zero replies.

I had the same problem:
* first installation of a patch did correctly
* second one did not

So i uninstalled the patch component (com_patch), the installed the 2nd component with success
AND....
the first one were not unistalled !!!

That's why you get the message
"
You are SAFE to Uninstall this Patch Component
"

Once you are done with the patch component, just remove it. Alot of patch components are all labeled the same and will error if you do not remove the old patch component. Doing this will allow you to use the next patch component that you need to use.... just remember to uninstall the patch component after it is sucessfully run (basically install it then uninstall it... the changes will remain).

Are you there suggesting that when uninstalling the patch component it does not really uninstall the code changes to the joomla files but rather just the path code. if this is true then it would not really be an uninstall.

if my understanding of your comment is incorrect and that the uninstall does uninstall then that would imply you can only patch one thing at a time. Ie in my case, I would like to patch both CB and fireboard and xyz and abc .... many extensions. can i simple re-name each patch component before installing so that i can have many. ie jacl_path_fireboard-v123, jacl_path_cb_v123, etc
